We’re gearing up for a summer of math and other STEM-related activities with this month’s featured mathematician, Dr. Crystal Morton! Even though school is out, we’re sure that this season will be packed with both fun and learning! Here’s what’s inside your “Summer Camp” box:

• Meet Dr. Crystal Morton: Check out our exclusive interview with Dr. Crystal Morton, mathematician, Associate Professor of Mathematics, and founder of the Girls STEM Institute!
• Summer Camp Math Activity Booklet: This booklet, created by the Black Girl MATHgic team, is filled with summer-related math activities for this month. Make sure you complete the entire booklet; that’s how you build your math confidence!
• That’s Mean Dice Game: Math mean, that is! The rules are simple: Roll all six dice. You may make two rolls of all or some of the dice, as desired. Add your dice and chose “high” or “low”. This determines whether you add or subtract the mean from your total score. The goal is to stay as far away as possible from the mathematical mean (average) of the six dice added together. This game is a great way to practice math computation and can be played with two or more players. Choking hazard: small parts.
