A Growth Mindset Journal for Students – Grades 4-8

The Love Math Journal was created to help children and students build confidence and a passion for learning math and other challenges.

It encourages curiosity and excitement about math, while strengthening social-emotional learning (SEL) skills, such as:

• identifying and managing emotions,

• recognizing sources of stress,

• learning to cope with challenges,

• maintaining motivation and perseverance,

• developing a sense of awareness,

• thinking critically and creatively,

• and cultivating a growth mindset toward math.

It also incorporates gratitude because students who practice gratitude regularly can better communicate, make decisions, solve problems, deal with anxiety, and work well with others – all things that benefit math students!

The journal was designed to be quick and easy to use. By spending 2-3 minutes actively nurturing your students and children’s mindsets and feelings toward math, you will help set them up for success.
